I see
https://wiki.sonic.net/wiki/IMAP_FAQ

Is there a more complete guide that covers the process for moving email and hosting to Sonic, from another provider, including copying legacy IMAP messages? I'd like to pass this on to someone facing that issue.

Note when I do this, I generally set up Thunderbird with old and new accounts, and drag folders over one by one.

We don't currently have documentation in that vein, but that's a great suggestion.

In terms of migrating email, your method is what I've done in the past as well - set up both accounts in an IMAP account, and migrate the folders over by hand. Setting up all subsequent folders as children (or sub folders) of the Inbox can speed things up, though, since you just need to drag the parent folder (Inbox) over.

The best solution is to use imapsync - http://imapsync.lamiral.info/ It is the most comprehensive tool to sync IMAP accounts. You'd need a suitable place to run it but that could just be a temporary *nix VM. It is a command line tool but is pretty easy to use.
