Can't publicly access files I uploaded to my ftp area

Building a word file with a link to a .PDF stored in my ftp.sonic.net public user area.

Double checked proper link location, thought it was:

ftp://ftp.sonic.net/nfs/ftp/ftp/pub/use ... Buying.pdf

However, I get a connection timeout when I try to open it in a new browser window - I'm using CuteFTP 4.0.

Please help.
