I received this emil (below) from Sonic about an upgrade to MySQL 5.5. I have several WordPress sites hosted at Sonic.
Some questions:
1. Will this change affect my WordPress sites?
2. If I don't change will my WordPress sites disappear?
3. It's not clear from the detailed instructions how to make this change (at least it's not clear to me)?
4. Will Sonic automatically upgrades all the sites?
I'm alittle confused.

You are receiving this email because you have a MySQL 4.1 database with
Sonic.net as part of your web hosting services.
MySQL 4.1 reached its end of life cycle 12/31/06. Critical bug and
security fixes were released until 2009. While we have supported and
maintained the legacy MySQL server for some time, we cannot do so
indefinitely.
On 12/06/11 we will be migrating all legacy 4.1 databases to MySQL 5.5.
While most applications will continue to work fine after the migration
it is possible that some specific databases or queries will no longer
function as intended.
To ensure continuity of service, we strongly suggest that you manually
migrate and test your application now. This relatively straight forward
process involves exporting your old database data, importing your
data into the new database server, updating your database connection
configuration in your application and then testing your application.
Please see https://wiki.sonic.net/wiki/Mysql_backup_and_restore for
detailed instructions on how to export your database and load it onto
a new server.
Here is a list of config files for common web applications that you
would need to edit to provide the new database connection information:
https://wiki.sonic.net/wiki/Common_web_ ... nfig_files
For help or if you have any questions, please see

Please share this email with your web developer if you do not maintain
your website yourself.
Thanks,
