URL Masking? Question

I have a domain redirect setup from a secondary to a primary domain name. I currently have a website sitting on the primary in its own directory that the secondary is pointing to, but was wondering if there's a way of masking the URL for the site to appear as the secondary domain name?
For example, let's say the secondary site is secondary.com but is pointing to example.com/secondary and when a visitor is on said website, they would see secondary.com versus example.com/secondary (the redirect would remain, it just wouldn't be immediately visible to a visitor).
I tried reading over the mod rewrite article as it was suggested I do so when I was originally looking to set this up, yet to be honest, find how it relates to what I'm looking to do a bit confusing and was then suggested to try asking here for help instead.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
