Congrats to Dane for a great appearance on the Internet History Podcast. I've been following this podcast on and off for the past year, giving it a listen when it's a topic I'm interested in, skipping it otherwise.
It was great timing to find this in my stream the day that my resold AT&T fiber order went through (about to finally become a Sonic customer), and with Sonic fiber coming to my 'hood sometime this year (got a preorder on that as well, from back in March).
It was a trip down memory lane as I got my first shell account in '94 and later worked for a local ISP in the mid and late 90s. I had forgotten so many things, and as I rolled out of the business in the late 90s, so much of the past 2 decades in the local ISP biz was lost on me -- being a captive Comcast customer, there was nothing to 'know'.
Glad to be coming back to the community, and I'd recommend giving the episode a listen if you are interested in Internet/ISP/Sonic history.
