I am being harassed by a stranger by email.
Can I block him?
What should I do?
He has threatened me, but says if I report to police, he will basically ruin my life by sending some horrible video with my name on it, to all my contacts!
If I block him that will take care of it, I believe.
Not sure.
Thank you.

Does the email look like this one?
I know, ******, is your password. You do not know me and you're probably thinking why you're getting this mail, correct?

Let me tell you, I actually setup a malware on the adult vids (adult porn) website and guess what, you visited this website to have fun (you know what I mean). While you were watching video clips, your web browser started working as a RDP (Remote Desktop) having a key logger which provided me accessibility to your display and web cam. Immediately after that, my software program collected your entire contacts from your Messenger, social networks, as well as email.

What did I do?

I made a double-screen video. 1st part shows the video you were viewing (you've got a good taste lol . . .), and 2nd part shows the recording of your web camera.

What should you do?

Well, I believe, $3900 is a fair price tag for our little secret. You'll make the payment by Bitcoin (if you don't know this, search "how to buy bitcoin" in Google).

BTC Address: ******
(It is cAsE sensitive, so copy and paste it)

Note:
You now have one day to make the payment. (I have a unique pixel in this e mail, and right now I know that you have read through this e mail). If I don't get the BitCoins, I will send out your video to all of your contacts including family members, colleagues, and many others. Nonetheless, if I do get paid, I will destroy the video immidiately. If you want evidence, reply with "Yes!" and I will certainly send your video to your 15 contacts. This is the non-negotiable offer, and thus please do not waste my time and yours by replying to this email message.
If so, this is a common scam going around. The sender uses a leaked password that's already out on the internet to make you think they've infiltrated your computer. The worst thing you can do is respond. If you ignore it they go away. Also be sure to not use that password since it's public information at this point.

As for blocking, I'm not sure, but maybe someone else can help with that. I apologize in advance if this is way off base from what you're experiencing, but just about everyone in my family has received this email now and they've all been very alarmed.

You can block an email address from sending you correspondence by doing the following:

1. Log into Member Tools (members.sonic.net)
2. Navigate to Email
3. Navigate to Spam Filtering
4. Navigate to Whitelists / Blacklists
5. Navigate to Blacklist Address
6. Input the email address you want to block and click "Add Blacklist Entry"

That should get you sorted. Support can also walk you through this process over the phone.
