I signed up for sonic fiber. Called support to add Static IP as work require connections from a whitelisted IP. The answer was NO. This service is not available in Sonic Fiber. My questions to Sonic:

1- How will you compete with ATT, Comcast, …etc. in the Bay Area? Some companies offer Fiber and Static IPs for affordable prices.
2- It’s not a reasonable argument that (users doesn’t need it). The real answer is that, you cannot offer it. When will you have the capability to offer Static IPs?

Internet is becoming more and more available and affordable, many companies are offering the service and many more to come. You may think that a few technical people that want Static IPs. Remember that these are the ones that make youtube videos, and have millions of followers, ...etc. They can influence the majority of decision makers. I hope you listen to your customers before it’s too late.

Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback. Offering static IPs for our fiber service is not something we are currently working on or have any plans to implement. While this does not mean we will never offer static IPs, its unlikely we will any time soon.

Funny, because they do have static or dynamic IPs via DSL; yep I'm another customer with two different services at two different locations (Windsor & Santa Rosa) and I'm STUCK with DSL as long as I hold onto Sonic. Sonic can hand out static addresses but they don't want to be bothered with customers who want to setup their own servers or services that need high speed static IP addresses. I'm not sure if Sonic really wants to be in any business anymore. Their help department just refers its 'customers' to the forums pages instead of taking a hard look at the real problem -- they just think of us as ATMs. I'm here to post another issue and spotted the fiber issue you are having. I want to stay 'local' but Sonic is making the case to go away!

I really wish you would reconsider this. Consider this my vote to add this service. I've signed up for the 10G fiber service but static IPs would really make my decison *MUCH* easier.

I have asked about this in the past too, and it is disappointing to see that static IP addresses are not even being planned. This was one big incentive in my move to Sonic in 2011-2012. I simply have -no desire whatsoever- to deal with any kind of "dynamic" stuff, third-party services, using names rather than real addresses, or any similar needless shenanigans.

it would highly surprise me if -any- businesses with multiple sites use dynamic-IP Internet providers.

Businesses typically would order business class services, which can include static IP addresses.

Yes indeed! This is exactly what I would anticipate wanting if/when I switch to Sonic Fiber. As far as I know, though, they are not even offering static addresses to prospective business customers. I would love to be wrong about that.

Sonic doesn't have a lot of info online about the business class services, including where they are available, so you may need to call Sales to get more details.

[Edit: inserted "online" that was inadvertently omitted earlier]
