$40 per month isn't really $40 per month (deceptive)

I really wanted to like Sonic so when I explored getting the service I learned the $40/mo is more like $50/mo. You really (really, really) need to simply state the exact total cost I will pay per month without making me go digging for it and being unpleasantly surprised.

The other thing is why is it $40/mo (or $50 or whatever it is)? The likelihood of the real cost being a nice round number like 40 is very, very small. $38.27 or $41.83 I can understand. Does it really cost exactly $40 (or whatever the real number is)?

Hello,

Our $40 per month only applies to our Sonic Fiber services and is a promotional rate before taxes and fees. During our signup process over the phone or online we fully breakdown the costs. After taxes and rental fees the service costs around $65 and this costs varies depending on which City and County you live in.

Our promotional rate typically lasts one full year and once it expires the base cost of the service goes up to $50 per month before taxes and fees.

Sorry you feel our marketing is deceptive but it is a normal way of advertising costs for services. We will always be fully transparent on costs during sign up.

Thank you,
Sonic

It turns put to be $58.00 a month. And God help you if you ever get terminal cancer and try to cancel service. I will be dead before they stop taking money from my bank account. Well, I have nothing left to take so .....

I'm sorry about the trouble getting your account closed out during what must be a very difficult time for you. I see you called in to our billing department and it looks like we were able to get this resolved. But if you need any additional assistance please let us know - feel free to message me directly or reach out to our support team again.

I've received postcards advertising service for $40, which would be great as that is what I currently pay AT&T (after taxes and fees). However I was cynical that the price advertised would be real so checked your forums for details, and good thing I was doubtful as I now find that the real price is at least $25 more than I pay now, or more. My speed of service has been adequate for the $40 I pay now so will remain with AT&T much as I distrust them as well. Too bad because I liked the idea of using a local business. Oh well.

I'd add my email here but get enough spam already :)

It's 40 per month for one year, then it's 50 a month.

You can always park near an open Wifi access point and get free internet.

Or you can do like I did when I was your age, and there was no internet, go find real things to interact with. :x
