Not understanding the DirecTV bundle pricing...

I am considering switching to Sonic and looking at the DirecTV deal. The pricing doesn't make sense to me, so perhaps I am not understanding something?

You get $5 off your DSL service and $5 off your TV service for one year.

For the Sonic-Choice package, the price is $69.94.

So 39.95 - 5.00 = $34.95 for DSL

69.94 - 34.95 = $34.99 for TV

DirecTV offers the same $34.99 for the same Choice package. Isn't the savings then just $5 off DSL service?

in addition DirecTV is offering a $100 gift card with the Choice package.

DSL $5 savings x 12 = $60

You lose $40 if you don't sign up directly with DirecTV.

Did I miss something?

Very good questions, thank you.

By ordering through DIRECTV you are correct, they offer a $5 discount for the first 12 months that reduces the rate to $34.99 a month. In year two that discount goes away. The Sonic.net difference is that you get $5 off for 24 months on the DIRECTV bill and $5 off for 24 months on the Sonic.net Fusion service. A savings of $180 over DIRECTV.

Regarding the $100 gift card, this is something that we are also able to offer, but since we are a retailer of DIRECTV we are not able to advertise it.
