Any thoughts on why the one's internet might be working, but the phone seems to be down?

A little more info:

Last night there was a blackout here the entire evening. PG&E got the lights restored around 1 am. While that was going on, I was able to plug my old phone in and get the dial tone.

Just now, I plugged the line back into my cordless phone, but the phone seems to not be able to sense anything coming from the line. I replugged the corded phone back in, but no dial tone comes out now.

Obviously I'm still connected to the internet, so cool. I brought my corded phone over to my router, unplugged the cable from the back of the router and stuck it in the corded phone. I got a dial tone, but I can't actually dial anything from that phone. Sigh.

Thoughts? Thanks.

That's an odd one. A call to support is probably the next step. You can request a call, here: https://www.sonic.com/support

Thanks for the reply, Dane. Of course, if the phone were down, then I wouldn't be able to call support. :-) Hence why I tried the forums and email support.

As it turned out, after an hour-long nap, the dial tone and phone service came back. Not that I'm suggesting that your techs recommend taking a nap to your subscribers who have problems, though. ;-) But it worked for me this time.

If this were a more regular problem, or if it becomes one, then I'd want to pursue the root cause. But hopefully we can chalk this one up as a singular abnormal occurrence.

Cheers.
