We are due soon for connection with Fusion fiber & voice service. On sign-up we selected "Number Transfer." Looking through FAQs and this Forum I don't see a description of the phone service set-up that describes the phone number transfer process. I want to know if Number Transfer happens automatically, or if I need to take action (which is what I want.). I've seen notices telling us not to cancel existing phone service prior to install, but nothing on how or when the number transfer occurs.

I want to confirm we like the Sonic VOIP/analog system before leaving current phone service. As when we signed up I selected Number Transfer, which would transfer our current phone number to the new sonic line, I want to confirm we control when that transfer happens. Also that we will have an opportunity to test the Fusion Voice service before number transfer.

That would require that we first be assigned a sonic phone number to try the service with. Then after determining acceptability, we would then transfer our current phone number to the sonic Fusion service.

Can someone detail how the voice install works normally when Number Transfer has been selected?

The number transfer starts once the service has been installed. Since you selected this option on sign up the number port will start right after the tech on site finishes the job. As long as the number is still active with a carrier the number port will go through as long as the correct information for the port has been put in.

I understand what you mean by trying out the phone service first so you can do this one of two ways for your situation.

1.) You can either call us and remove the number port step and try out the service with the free number we give instead of transferring your number or

2.) You can let the number port go through and if you do not like it then you can port the number out of Sonic to a carrier you prefer.

It looks like you would want to do the first step as that would be the best manual way for you.
