Within the last couple weeks I have been totally BOMBARDED by calls from Boyonne, NJ. I get at least THREE a day, from:
201-215-XXXX, I used Xs for the last 4 digitd because it changes every call so I can't try and block one number. I am so maddened as this is my business landline, a number we've had since 1960. Sonic tells me there is nothing they can do since I have a DSL line. I am so frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand your frustration especially since they keep changing the number so you can't block the number and be done.

This forum post explains why we can not block numbers on a DSL line : viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7089

One of the main information here would be on that post " I checked with voice ops team, and the issue is that the voice switching behind the copper-based Fusion network does not have per-line block-listing capabilities. It’s a technological limitation.

Our newer VoIP-based phone services on fiber and IP Broadband do have this capability, and each customer can manage their own personal block list. "

I checked the account and one way we could stop this is by upgrading you to our IPBB service. This would put you on the VoIP phone line in which you are able to block those numbers yourself in membertools in commportal.

The challenge is that spam callers are now randomizing their telephone numbers. This is making block lists less effective. So, even if you had our customer editable block list that lets you add 100 numbers to a list, that wouldn't help.

The root issue is that telephone calls are passed between carrier networks without any validation of source telephone number, so bad actors can spoof any telephone number they'd like. The fix for this looks like it will be a new validation protocol that is under development. Once standardized and implemented by carriers, this should allow us to determine if a calling number is accurate.

I just got another of those New Jersey calls and the "please call us back" number in the voicemail matched the displayed caller I'D.

Is that enough confirmation for Sonic to start intercepting/blocking that number if so is Support reading here to collect numbers? Or should I email the voicemail to support as proof?

I will come back and edit to add the number here:
