Hi everyone,

I am a GPON native plant customer with Adtran ONT - any chance of direct VOIP voice tap? What I mean by that is whether there's any way to connect a SIP physical phone to Sonic's back-end instead of feeding a POTS phone via copper pair to the ONT's RJ11 voice port?

Thank you

No, SIP VoIP is not a service that we provide for residential customers. Primarily that’s because it is a commodity, something you can get over the top (OTat)from many sources cheaply.

There are lots of things like this that we could do but choose not to, because the internet will always win anyway. Television is the best example, where OTT streaming is replacing traditional Cable packages. But other items in this category which some ISPs take on include data backup, home security, and various “smart home” devices and services.

We are moving instead toward doing less: deliver the fastest and most reliable internet and landline, but little else. Because in the end, the intern winds anyway (on price, innovation, quality), but the last-mile fiber is a critical utility.
