The Grandstream HT801 that is repackaged as the Sonic ATA supports a lot of useful features that Sonic prevents its users from accessing. The sonic firmware disables user access to the configuration (why? i don't know! users are perfectly capable of configuring their own hardware and if they screw up they can just reflash a sonic config). Specifically, I need access to the Do Not Disturb mode. Spam callers call in the middle of the night, which is unacceptable. The result is that I just leave the phone disconnected and it is essentially useless because disconnecting/reconnecting every morning (or manually turning on/off DND every morning via the phone menu access) is unreasonable. This feature is built into the HT801 for a reason - please allow us to access it!

With our residential services, we do not currently offer a way to schedule Do Not Disturb mode. Giving customers full access to the ATA's configuration isn't something we would do however I am looking into the feasibility of getting some features, like scheduled DND, enabled for customer's who want use it. I will follow up with more information or if we are able to get this implemented.

Spencer, is anyone looking at updating the firmware on these devices?
The one I have is still on 1.0.11.6, which is 5 versions behind the latest version (1.0.21.4). This includes some critical security fixes (in 1.0.19.11), and possibly a fix for the problem of the device not rebooting correctly after it and the gateway lose power simultaneously.

We work with our phone switch vendor on firmware updates for the Grandstream HT801. Our phone switch vendor recommended using 1.0.11.6 for a couple different reasons. It was tested and determined to be the most stable. It was also tested for inter-op and has no known security issues. When new versions are released they need to be tested and approved by our vendor for inter-op before pushing that update to all customer ATA's

From the manufacturer's page
http://www.grandstream.com/support/firmware

"Important Upgrade Note:
Firmware 1.0.19.11+ contains security improvement. Please upgrade to firmware 1.0.19.11+ immediately for security purpose."

It also looks like a new version (1.0.23.5) was released since I posted yesterday.

The firmware we are currently using with the ATA is secure. If there is something in specific that you feel should be addressed or is causing an issue for you please let me know.
