I have a digital answering machine for screening my calls.

After the Sonic fiber optic line was installed, the answering machine stopped working.
It answers a call, but gives only two words of my message, and then disconnects.

The same thing happened with a brand new digital answering machine.

I tested my machine on another landline that has copper wiring, and it works fine.

It seems the fiber optic technology is incompatible with the answering machine.

Sonic tech support has been unable to help.

Anyone have ideas/suggestions/ insight?

Hello!

Answering Machines seem not to work with our VOIP, mainly due to our own built in Voicemail service. If you would like assistance setting up your Sonic Voicemail please give Tech Support a Call!

P.S. I have seen some Answering Machines work by making their pick up time sooner then the Sonic Voicemail's pick up timer. This might work but I would give it a 50% chance to do so. Let us know if it does!

Best Wishes!

Just disable voice mail in member.sonic.net under Voice. My parents and I have fiber--parents with Sonic fiber, and I have resold ATT FTTH. Both our Panasonic phone/answering machines work.
