"Please enter your remote access code" says my phone, after a spam call rings

Got and ignored a spam call identified as from Minnesota.

Minutes later, another spam call from Minnesota, also ignored.

And as that second call quit ringing, my Panasonic wireless phone base station said in loud unaccented English "Please enter your remote access code"

WTF? Is there some way of getting a spam call past the point of ignoring the Sonic ring and remotely fiddling with the telephone?

My voicemail tells me "call screening is active" but I've never heard a word of any screened call, maybe this is call screening telling the spammer to enter a remote code, and doing that out loud so I can hear it?

I wonder if it's a 2FA system attempting to call someone who accidentally (or intentionally) entered your phone number.
