I just got my new sonic service today and install the Sonic Mobile Communicator app. Everything seems to be working OK except the SMS. When I pull up a contact with a mobile phone number I can see a handset and SMS button. But when I click the SMS it initiates a voice call.

I’m also confused if there’s a difference between SMS and chat. When I click the chat button and try and search for a contact no names are found. When editing a contact I see a chat field that seems to be looking for a sonic.net email address rather than a mobile phone number.

I can’t find anything in the FAQs or documentation that explains this. It would be really nice to be able to send and receive a text messages (SMS) from the Sonic Mobile Communicator app.

Can anyone give me some pointers?

Hello,

The chat function is not the same as an SMS message. The mobile communicator does not have the capability of sending and receiving SMS messages. When you click on SMS button, it's supposed to open the texting application on your phone. We are currently working on the mobile communicator app and will send you more information when we have it.
