> multiple calls from the same number

I asked Support about this (about getting Sonic to block a number with the wrong number of digits, the robocaller setup typo'd that field.

Sonic's reply seems to say that they don't ned to block it, because they instructed me to blacklist the number in my personal settings.

Robocall and unsolicited voice message about health insurance from ANTIOCH CA 925-434-9902 on Tue Apr 16 2019 at 08:14:52.

- Is there a way to attach a voicemail message on forum posts?
When I tried, I received the following error: Invalid file extension: voicemail.wav

The truncated voice message began: "your area, by names you know and trust." It went on:
"For savings on health care plans specific to your zip code, with doctors and hospitals, please press 5 now, and start saving on insurance, Medicare or Medicaid today. Approval is guaranteed.

It also said to "press 9 to be permanently removed from our calling list: a live agent will not be able to remove you. You must press 9 now to be removed. Si habla Espanol."

No company name was included in the recording or displayed on Caller ID.

I believe these messages are illegal; they are certainly an annoying way to start the day. Please investigate and report to nomorobo if appropriate.

Thank you!

SONIC - why install Nomorobo if you don't allow your subscribers to utilize it by adding numbers violating the FCC robocalling and do not call lists?. I don't understand the philosophy that we need to post all the numbers here on this site to block them!

When they start out with a recorded voice saying, "Do not hang up! This is an important call," you can be fairly certain it's bs. This one says it's about helping you with Google rankings, blah, blah, blah...

cmeisel wrote:Blocking numbers is pretty useless. The number you see on the called ID most of the time is NOT the number they call from. Number spoofing is an epidemic now and many times if you block a number, it might be completely not involved in the call, it was just spoofed. And a few minutes later, they can call you from another, spoofed number. This needs to be addressed by phone providers (not sonic, higher up the chain) by adding number authentication to prevent spoofing. Until this is done, nothing will work.
Not completely true. I often get multiple calls from the same number, spread over a period of days or weeks. Even if it's spoofed, blocking that number will block the numerous repeat calls. Also, several other people get calls from that number before the scammers stop using it and move on to another number. So blocking specific numbers will make a difference, even if it doesn't solve every situation.
Actually, blocking spoofed numbers can prevent legit phone calls.
What if they decide to use your number, and pretend you are calling me, and as a consequence I ask it to be blocked?
You would never be able to call me anymore (nor all the others who would be shielded from that number).
Blocking numbers will be useful again once we can guarantee that spoofed calls are already blocked.
My 2¢.

I keep getting calls from this number from a guy who claims to be John Stevens at 669-268-3715. He says he's a computer tech and won't stop calling. Does anyone else get calls from this number?
Thanks
