shell sh.sonic.net disconnects

It always connects, but it might stall in a few minutes or work for an hour.

Session stalls, a few minutes later all my keystrokes blast across the screen.
Or, I get a disconnect.

I happens on all the computers in the house.

Behavior is like this issue
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5501&p=45279#p45279
at the time it was discovered that
"I'm not sure why, but your Comcast address ended up in hosts.deny again.
I've made some changes to denyhosts' behavior which should help mitigate this. -Scott"

Support says they don't do shell, told me to post in the forums.
I PM'd Scott, is he still here?

Thanks,
Vic

I'm investigating it, Vic...

Looks like you are connecting from some place far afield? It could be some vagary in the Internet between here and there. Possible we can try to troubleshoot that. Is there are particular time when this happens more often?

Something must have needed to be looked at. It was up from
yesterday morning to this morning. I rebooted about 07:00 and it
is still working great.

Thanks,
Vic

Glad that it is working. I didn't do anything, but I did pass on the issue to the NOC -- maybe they found something.

If it happens again, please try to get a traceroute from your system to shell.sonic.net.

It started disconnecting again Saturday morning. Or, that is when I noticed it.

Thanks,
Vic

Scott,

This morning I got 3 disconnects in just a few minutes each. The
GUI stuff through www.sonic.net always works. The problem is no
Sonic in general, only sh.sonic.net. Sometimes it does not
disconnect, sometimes I type something and 5 or 10 minutes later
the text appears on the screen. What if it is a CPU or Memory
hog. Is there a script I can run when it is having problems that
would help you to track down the culprit?

Thanks,
Vic
