Sonic VPN on Asus AC87

Just wondering if Sonic VPN can be successfully configured on Asus AC87 ?

I setup the Sonic VPN on an Asus RT-AC66U router and discovered the VPN was on the inside of the device's firewall. My router configuration page was publicly accessible.
I've since used a Beaglebone black and Supermicro A1SAi-2550F as a VPN gateways. There's some posts about configuring pfsense or sophos as VPN gateways.
