Legacy DSL?

It has been some time since I have viewed the Sonic.net home page. I see no reference to my DSL service, and I see references to Legacy Maintenane. So it appears I am a Legacy DSL user in Orange County, looking forward to Fusion. Is there anything I should be aware of regarding my connection? I searched the Blogs but could not spot anything.

Legacy AT&T line-shared DSL is still available, but not marketed directly on our website anymore. It will only be offered by the website to customers if their location does not qualify for Fusion service.

FYI, Fusion build-out in LA is proceeding, but Orange is likely late 2013.

I only found your Legacy page by Googling Sonic.net and DSL, just in case you would like folks to know it's available, it is not easy to find.

As I was speeking with a customer service rep, he informed me that due to some kind of telephone line configuration in my area of Cypress, it will not likely be possible to get Fusion. That is probably why AT&T does not offer Uverse in my area. Perhaps it has to do with the infrastructure of my condominium association of approx 400 single family home units. I will check with the manager.

When you put in your address or phone number, does the site properly route you? It should offer you Fusion if available, or ATT line-shared DSL if it's the only option.

Ah yes, now I see the screens. I was NOT navigating like a potential customer. I was navigating due to curiosity due to forum references to Legacy DSL, already knowing that Fusion was not available in my area. My search was an anomaly. Thanks.

I no longer see service for on of the locations I have been checking for over a year. Previously it listed DSL as an alternative, but no not even that shows up. Have you stopped offering legacy DSL?

Yes, we have.
1) as of when?

2) how come?

3) what does this mean for your existing legacy dsl customers?

4) it might be nice for them to still have something to reference, with the info from what was http://sonic.net/sales/broadband/dsl/index.php (service levels, speeds, terms, monthly charges); nothing on this in support, that I can see.

As of early this year. Because it's not a product we've seen any new customer demand for, and removal simplifies our offering. Existing customers are not affected - and if they move and need similar service, we can still provision it when needed. The product is retired, so it's no longer on the website. You can find monthly charges on your invoice receipts, in Member Tools.

Thanks for the quick info. Wasn't for me, but I've sent people your way who are behind RTs & couldn't get Fusion (or u-verse for that matter). I'm sure that's still the case for many out there, so I'm surprised there's no demand - even if folks have to keep the AT&T landline, and not get the Fusion package or pricing, they'd at least get (better) Sonic support and no caps. Guess now, for new broadband customers, it's Fusion or no Sonic at all.

I'd suppose it's a pain to be all the more at AT&T's mercy to resell & maintain legacy. Good that you'll keep it for the existing, though.
