The page https://wiki.sonic.net/wiki/Pace_4111N is as of this writing silent on the topic.
There are POWER WIRELESS and BROADBAND lights on the Pace 4111N that I understand.
The SERVICE light however sometimes blinks in concert with ethernet activity. What does this light mean?

The service light indicates layer 3 connectivity. The ethernet and service LEDs will flash as traffic is passed.

What's a layer 3 and why would I care?

If you're not into the bits and bytes of networking, you shouldn't care. If you're interested in learning something about it, start here:

There was a missing :-) there. Why would such a prominent LED on the unit blink in a way that only .01% of the population would care about?
