Will Sonic do fiber in Redwood Shores side of Redwood City? Specifically close to the fire station, Dockside Circle neighborhood?

Saw a Sonic crew around Middlefield and Maple yesterday. Not sure what was going on but this is the first time I've seen them here.

I just want to provide an update on my recent fiber install in San Carlos. After posting here with some understanding on where the fiber line is and how my premise can get access to it, I was provided with an email for upgrading my Fusion X1 to fiber. During this process, we have exchanged several more emails from providing HOA approval, locating the point of entry to the premise, and establishing installation appointment. Once all set, the Sonic crews went on to the pole the day before to prep for the installation. They arrived on time at the day of installation, walked me through the process, answered any questions I have, etc without the need of them entering my home. Once everything is installed, the down time for switching over is less than 15 minutes. Although I chose to use my own router, I have kept and will keep Sonic's RG for a while mainly for troubleshooting. Overall, it is a very pleasant experience and the speed is even more pleasant!! I went from 12.5 Mbps to 912 Mbps at the highest from modem to router. I am very satisfied with the whole experience.

@nxrick, thanks for the update. Hoping to see Sonic's fiber service in Emerald Hills soon.

May I ask how this is possible when you need to have an ONT installed inside your home or otherwise you'd need to get an ethernet cable run outside your home's walls?

In other news, I saw another Sonic truck driving around RWC so things are finally getting closer to us than ever!

Hi bayfiber, my ONT is placed inside my office and the fiber optic cable is fed through a new hole that I asked Sonic to drill through as all I have on the outside is a MPOE with a couple of twisted pairs fed inside the stucco. Hope this helps.

BTW, the ONT is pre-configured and all I need to do is for Sonic to hand me the ONT, plug in the power, optical cable, and ethernet cable to the router and viola!

Here's my latest update email:
We had additional adjustments to the timing of your area. Some of the pole work required in your area during this stage is taking longer than expected. Because of this, we are reevaluating timelines and will have more clear timing expectations for you in the coming months. We were hoping to get you connected sooner, but we will not stop until you are! Thank you for your patience.
So going from "lighting up your neighborhood next spring" in the last update to having no idea when is a huge disappointment. I pre-ordered this May of 2019. Had I known it was going to take more than 2 years, I wouldn't have bothered and looked for another option.

I can't really see much detail from that short video other than a customer placing a gateway near something already installed near a window. Is there any better explanation as to how an ONT would be installed inside a residential home without a technician entering?

Thanks for that. Seems like a special case, though.

Got the same email. Ordered back in July 2019. Sadly, there's no other options in my area so I am rooting for Sonic to finally come through. The entire Peninsula should have been the fiber flashpoint of the entire country and we're lucky to finally be months away from getting it while so many other cities won't get it for years. I will be extremely disappointed if I do end up waiting 2 full years for a pre-order to become an installation.
