I live on Sonoma Avenue in Santa Rosa. We are a small stones throw away from a major Shopping Center, and less than 2 miles from City Center. Yet, no fiber. What's up ? Why no fiber here? You would think that City centers in shopping centers would be a priority. Also less than a mile from a school. ..

Are your electric wires above or below ground?

I haven't heard about any Sonic plans for Santa Rosa. However, "commercial" clients can get fiber. I know for a fact that SRFACS (former Doyle Park Elementary) is on fiber. All of Santa Rosa City Schools are.

What Sonic has said about past residential fiber deployments have been two things:
1) Population density of a neighborhood has to be high enough to cover the cost.
2) Utilities need to be overhead, or the city needs to approve microtrenching.

My SR neighborhood is a bit of an internet black hole, so I've been waiting awhile. I got excited a few months ago when I spied a fiber truck pulling fiber along Summerfield & Mayette, but I think they were just providing access for the Rincon Valley Unified Schools. I certainly haven't gotten a door hanger advertising service.
