My last connection issues was attributed to upload interfering with download and resulting loss of connection.

It only happened when there is simultaneous upload and download.

Regular downloads worked fine, and SpeedTest reported stable results on multiple tries.

To help diagnose problems like this, is it possible to modify SpeedTest to do upload and download at the same time?

I don't think so, as uploads can impair downloads, which would result in an (more*) inaccurate results.

Maybe we should consider developing something like a "stress tester", which would do down/up testing at the same time, maxing out the link.

* Speed tests are inherently inaccurate, and can be affected by other traffic on your network connection, by PC issues such as browser and Java, etc, etc. Just checking the sync speed of your modem is generally much more accurate. Customers with our new equipment (which you can get here, works with DSL and Fusion: http://sonic.net/solutions/home/interne ... /equipment ) can obtain the current sync speed by simply visiting http://gateway.sonic.net/
