Just curious if Castro Valley might be in your expansion plans. We've got 62,000+ folks in unincorporated territory just north of Hayward. No AT&T Fiber service yet; it's all served by FTTN and Comcast. There's a good mix of aerial and underground utilities depending on the neighborhood. On the eastern side there's the Palomares Hills community, which as far as I know has entirely underground utilities and would have to be microtrenched.

Any update?

I saw the notice that fiber installation had begun, and saw trucks about a month ago on the street installing fiber.

However, it's been quiet since then.

I looked at https://www.sonic.com/fiber-status and it has been at "Pre-Construction" state for a while.

Thanks!

At this point, we cannot provide an accurate timeline or ETA on when we will be ready for installations in your area. Once we progress further into the build out, we will provide an estimated go live date on the Fiber Status page!

Thank you!

Interestingly, I see the Fiber Status Tool showing it is still in pre-construction phase.

However, the Get Sonic webpage shows it as fully ready for service! It invited me to order. I completed the form and signed up for 10 Gig service, just to make sure I am in the order queue for it.

Which of these is correct? Is it ready? After seeing the truck roll a month ago or so, it has been completely quiet since then. Is Sonic just taking preorders at this time for it, or is there real live service for it? Thanks for any clarification you can provide!

Hello,

We can confirm that as of now you are in a Pre-Order phase. The amount you paid to set up your account will be applied to the first month of service once it's available for installation there. Due to unforeseen complications and delays that happen during our construction phase outside of Sonic's direct control, we're not able to provide an accurate timeline of when the service will be ready for installation. We will send periodic updates to the email address you provided us to let you know the progress. We hope this information helps. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to expand.

Unfortunately, from my experience signing myself and my father-in-law up, the sign-up page's language is way too optimistic and reflects more aspiration than reality. Likewise, the "Fibre Status Tool" isn't accurate; it has been showing "Pre-Construction" for ~six months for my address, when the subcontractors installing fibre in Castro Valley for Sonic drug fibre past the mouth of my court ~10 days ago, so one would think it should have been updated to the "Construction" phase.
