Sonic Fiber + Eero

Hello fellow Sonic-ites! We just had Sonic Fiber installed in our home yesterday in San Mateo and I already owned eero routers. I decided to use the Sonic-provided router as a bridge via IP passthrough and have my eero act as the router...which seems to be working okay now. Couple of questions:
1. Is there some way to connect the ONT directly to my eero? I tried a few times but the eero was never able to connect.
2. Wifi speeds hover around the mid 250mbps, which is not bad but I had figured they'd be closer to the 500s.
