Hey guys,

I've been having trouble setting up my router (running Tomato) behind the modem (Pace). When setting the modem to bridged mode, my router is unable to get a DHCP lease. Oddly, the computer behind the router is able to get a lease for a public IP, even when the router is set up to give DHCP leases--as though the upstream server is overriding the router DHCP server.

I've switched out routers to rule out a hardware issue and have tried resetting both routers and the modem. I get the same behavior when using the "LAN Subports" mode as well.

EDIT:

Checked router logs, presumably is related to these dnsmasq notices:

Code: Select all

Dec 31 23:39:20 unknown daemon.info dnsmasq-dhcp[3683]: DHCPDISCOVER(br0) e4:ce:8f:42:3a:aa
Dec 31 23:39:20 unknown daemon.info dnsmasq-dhcp[3683]: DHCPOFFER(br0) 192.168.1.104 e4:ce:8f:42:3a:aa

EDIT2:

And the DHCP client is unable to get a lease for some reason:

Code: Select all

Dec 31 22:07:39 unknown daemon.info udhcpc[896]: udhcpc (v1.18.5) started

Turns out I had the modem plugged into the LAN port instead of the WAN port, whoops!
