My order for an upgrade from FTTN X1 to X2 and the 75Mbps tier (as offered by the availability tool) will not be possible.
According to the AT&T tech, while there are two pairs going to the premises, only one pair is good, and the one in use is the backup.
The saving grace is that the pair in use is very good, and currently synced up at a 58k/2k maximum, with low noise figures.
My understanding, both from what the tech said, and what I've read here, is that my options are limited to whatever intermediate tiers Sonic chooses to offer given those constraints. His opinion is that the line would support something in the 40 range, leaving enough headroom to be reliable.
I'm now trying to get an idea of what the options may be, keeping in the back of my mind that Gigapower is in the future as well.
