Warning: Network esoterica follows.

I use a Ubiquiti Edge Router Lite (ERL) connected to the fiber ONT for my home network. My wan port is Eth0 and my local lan port is Eth1. My lan is on 192.168.2.0/255. My firewall logs are showing traffic on Eth0 from IP address 192.168.1.1 trying to connect to a multicast address (227.0.0.1). I ran tcpdump to determine the MAC address and the source device (192.168.1.1) is manufactured by AdTran, so I'm reasonably certain that the traffic is originating from the ONT.

Does anyone have any idea what this traffic is? My connection to the Internet is just fine (900Mb give or take, so there is no performance hit, but I would like to understand better what these packets represent, why the 192.168.1.1 source address and if there's another way to stop these packets other than my firewall rules which does add a bit of work to the router's CPU.

Thanks!

Bob
