EDIT: I asked the same question at Quora, if anyone wants to follow that:

I know (from asking an installer who checked what he had in his truck) that Sonic will sell me a PSI brand UPS when fiber is hooked up, one that will support the voice phone for a brief outage:

We're expecting to be without electricity for about three weeks when the Hayward Fault goes.
Will Sonic's voice phone system work if it's powered onl when we want to make a call or are expecting a call at a specific time --- so I can extend the life of the UPS by intermittently using it?
And can anyone suggest UPSs with a 12VDC output suitable for use with Sonic's voice hardware?
(and do we get working Internet when power is supplied intermittently by switching on a UPS, as well as working voice?)
Here's the sort of thing I"ve found:
https://www.google.com/search?q=newegg+ ... ery+backup
(Sonic recommends the CyberPower devices but no specific model number)
There's lots more out there, but I'e learned to be reluctant to buy anything from China I can't afford to landfill, because return postage on a failed device is prohibitively high.
