My ZTE ZXV10 W300 Series that I got from Sonic 6 years ago is on its last legs. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good DSL modem router to replace it? Ideally in the $50-$100 range. Thanks!

I like gear w/ OpenWRT support : https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/hardware/soc/soc.lantiq

... so that means :

TP-LINK TD-W8980

TP-Link TD-W9980

That's the old page. As it says at the top, further updates will be at: https://openwrt.org/docs/techref/hardwa ... soc.lantiq

Those two models are both long-discontinued and hard to find, not to mention both with dual-band wifi NOT SUPPORTED BY OpenWrt. The TD-W8970 is fully supported, BUT NOT if it's v2 or later, which is all you'll find now. Conspicuously missing from that page is the Netgear DM200, fully supported by OpenWrt, but you'll need to shoehorn in its original DSP firmware if you are on VDSL: http://xdarklight.github.io/lantiq-xdsl-firmware-info/

The model actually recommended by all the OpenWrt folk is the BT HomeHub, Type 5A. Good luck trying to get one in the USA.

Hi,

I'm reactivating this thread because I'm looking for an alternative to the Pace 4111n for Sonic DSL service. Any suggestions for a DSL router is welcome. I'm looking at high performance and rich management. I would prefer support for OpenWRT, but that's not required.

For information, this is why I lost patience with the Pace 4111n :
o Web interface is sluggish, and at times very sluggish
o MAC filtering is not working, no parental control
o Weird micro latency issues
o It does not look like you can upgrade the firmware, so no security updates

Regards,

Jean
