I noticed that the newly installed ARRIS BGW210-700 wireless modem has a jack labeled "Phone Lines 1&2" does that means that I can connect my phone line directly and get rid of the ATA provided with the service to save $6 a month?

The ATA is a required component of the FTTN service. The phone jacks are for VoIP, but the ATA is needed to connect to our metaswitch and plugging directly into those jacks on the back of the modem would not work.
