some californians can avail themselves of relief due to covid BUT IF we must autopay we cannot be eligible FOR FUNDS others are getting. WHAT GIVES DANE?

this means that back due bills (and future through September 30) such as internet connections via Sonic cannot be paid by state through relief program as described below

CALIFORNIA COVID-19
RENT RELIEF PROGRAM

WHAT HELP IS AVAILABLE?

If you owe rent (“back rent” or “arrears”) we can help.
If you cannot pay your rent now or are concerned about paying next month’s rent we can help.
We can also help with utility bills that you owe now or that you have not paid.

from my local representative...

Utility Payments. Low-income renters who have been unable to pay some or all of their utilities because of the pandemic - or can't pay future utilities - can also apply for assistance on paying their utility bills. Payments will be made directly to the utility provider.

For those customers who have received relief funds under a state program, those are sent directly to us and we apply them to the customer's account. This doesn't change the automatic payment configuration, but it applies a credit to the account so automated payments don't occur until the credit is fully utilized.

Waste much times to try to turn off autopay.
Auto pay ripped off consumers billions, especially by insurance agents.
Cannot remove the credit card either

Like most internet services, Sonic offers a prepaid month-to-month recurring billed service. There are three tools for managing the recurring billing:

You can change the payment method, using a credit or debit card, or ACH from a checking or savings account. That can be done here: https://members.sonic.net/account/billing/

For qualifying households, you can also add the $30/month FCC Affordable Connectivity Program credit as an additional payment method. That can be done here: http://sonic.com/acp

And if you’d like to remove payment info, cease recurring billing and discontinue service, that can be managed here: https://members.sonic.net/account/cancellation/
