When I go to 192.168.42.1/admin, it asks me for a username and password. Should I have a username and password somewhere? On a whim I tried my Sonic log-in to no avail... ideas?

By default the SmartRG username and password for configuration will both be "admin". However when it syncs with our server and loads initial updates the password will update to match the WiFi key on the device.

Isn't that a bit insecure? Once someone obtains the WiFi key, s/he'd have control over the RG!miken wrote:... the password will update to match the WiFi key on the device.
Default keys aren't meant to be secure for people who have access to the network (even if the configuration password was different than the WiFi key, it would still need to be written on the device itself which is not secure). If access to the RG configuration is a concern the configuration password can be changed or guest networks can be used.virtualmike wrote:Isn't that a bit insecure? Good to hear the config password can be changed.
I'm less concerned about a guest in the house getting the password (though others may be more concerned). I'm more concerned about an outside party getting the password (perhaps from a guest or by managing to extract it from a device) and then taking control of the network.

I tried http://192.168.42.1/admin. and I get the error message 403 forbidden....What now?
Try restarting the router and make sure you are connected to the correct wireless network if on wifi. You might need to factory reset the router if you are still unable to connect.Doodlepig44 wrote:I tried http://192.168.42.1/admin. and I get the error message 403 forbidden....What now?
