I have base Fusion account which I've happily used for years. I've been an ombudsperson for Sonic service in general, and have recommended Sonic to several friends who now use the same Fusion service.
However, while such a friend on my same block (and therefore about the same distance from the nearest switch) is getting 20+ Mbp/s download and ~3 up, over the past months sustained uploads (all via FTP) have become a huge problem for me, bringing the connection to its knees.
When I monitor the FTP transfer from both ends I see the upload in real terms is < 1440 dial up.
Sonic support has maintained that upload saturation can cause download performance to be unusable (my word, not theirs). By 'unusable', I mean ping times of ~900ms, ~30 seconds to send a text email, et cetera.
In my previous experience, FTP uploads limited download speeds a bit but generally were around 1Mbp/s, which is consistent with Fusion spec.
I'm only getting a tiny fraction of that speed as measured by the download rate from the other end of the FTP connection.
Is there something I'm missing here? Sonic support hasn't suggested any internal checks on my side; they see the connection syncing at 7 down and 1 up even though I'm getting just a fraction of that.
