That's plenty for the ordinary power glitch.
Is the battery replaceable, so I can swap cells during the post-earthquake weeks with a solar-battery-charging setup?
Or is there an external power jack on the device?
Or if I hook up a power-over-Ethernet supply to the home network, will that power reach the Sonic fiber hardware?
Looking for ways to supply DC power after the 8-hour time expires, presuming Sonic will survive the big earthquake.
I know I'm asking a lot here. But as the ham radio operator on my block, I'm going to be pushing to keep connections up in all available ways. It's going to be a zoo at best.

There's also a mesh network set up by some of the same folks as a last fallback for communications.
Berkeley fire stations all have 2-meter radio antennas so the local hams can come with radios and plug in and help with communications -- I'd guess my nearby fire station is also within the upcoming Sonic fiber area, since they're probably closer to the phone company building on Solano than we are. I'll ask around.
Why worry? Well, according to the fireman who came to our last neighborhood meeting, when the East Bay next has a severe fire it's "going to burn all the way to the Bay" -- optimism is a bit scarce in the worst-case scenarios.
We're going to be patching together every link we can keep working, I hope including Sonic's network.
