Internet 75/$60 is available where I live in San Jose, so I'm a bit disappointed that Sonic's fastest speed is still 50mbps at my home... :-(
AT 100x20 is available in Almaden where I currently use Sonic for $60, $70 after 1 year. The additional downstream would be nice, but what I really need is the upload. Hopefully Sonic can leverage this tier before my contract runs out.
Dane, you said you would look into this a few weeks ago. Any update?
I'm in Alameda myself (Fremont) and also have access to the 100Mbit tier from AT&T. Please Sonic...help us get access to the faster tiers!
Cheers,
Cheers,
FWIW, here in the San Jose 95112 ZIP, the U-Verse promotional offer is $40/month for 50 Mbps.
Last spring/summer crews were busy hanging fiber from the utility poles, and I now have access to AT&T Fiber, which is offering $60/month for 100 Mbps with a 1TB cap and $80/month for gigabit speed and unlimited data. Those are promotional 12-month prices that go up by $20 after the initial promo period is up.
I was originally on Sonic ADSL but topped out at 3 Mbps. I caved and signed up for Comcast. Even then, I kept my Sonic service active because I liked having their POTS service, and Sonic had indicated that existing customers would drive their plans for fiber rollouts. When Sonic FTTN became available, I canceled Comcast and upgraded to Fusion X2.
I'm not that fussed over the price increase, so long as it does help speed fiber rollout to Sonic customers. And I really do prefer Sonic's great support team and business practices. But deals like this are incredibly tempting. I'd love if Sonic could resell AT&T fiber but that doesn't seem like something AT&T would do. (I'm still not sure how the economics of Sonic reselling FTTN work out, but I'm glad that they do it!)
With AT&T Fiber available in this area, would Sonic even consider doing a rollout here? I imagine it'd be a case of diminishing returns, since Sonic Fiber wouldn't have a clear speed advantage over the incumbent that's already marketing upgrades to the residents.

If Sonic is able to cut a deal with AT&T to resell fiber over there lines, they will certianly not allow Sonic to undercut them in speed tiers. They will probably be structured like the FTTN agreement, which I suspect has a very slim profit margin for Sonic in the first place.

Datapoint:
South San Jose showing:
ATT UVERSE
$40($70 after 12 mo) for "up to 50mbps" (equipment is included now?)
$100 installation
$50 reward card
unspecified taxes
Total Cost yr1 = $530 = ~ $44/mo + some taxes
Total Cost yr2 = $840 = $70/mo + some taxes
$60($80 after 12 mo) for "up to 75"
$100 installation
$50 reward card
unspecified taxes
Total Cost yr1 = $770 = ~$64/mo + some taxes
Total Cost yr2 = $1010 = $80/mo + some taxes
For comparison, I believe Sonic is:
FTTN x1 (15 Mbps) including modem and ATA is $53/$63/mo (1st 12 mo/after) + higher taxes (due to the voice line) = $65/75, (yr1 = $780, yr2=900?) and
FTTN x2 (45 Mbps) including modem and ATA to be $76/$86 + taxes = $88/98 (yr1=1056, yr2=1176?)
Bundling AT&T home phone makes the 45~50Mbps services comparable, but it seems there are a good number of people around this forum with zero interest in the home phone aspect.

Dane, were you able to find out any more information. It would be nice to take advantage of these faster speeds while still enjoying Sonic's excellent customer service.dane wrote:Interesting. I will dig deeper.
I just got FTTN installed and the technician said that the line is syncing at over 100Mbps. The modem confirms that it's synced at about 107Mbps. But we only have a 50Mbps profile.
Can we get the 100Mbps set up soon, please? And if so, when?
