Hey, any chance you could work with Blizzard to get their servers to peer (is that what you have to do?) with Sonic? To their Overwatch servers in Irvine, California I consistently get 100-140ms ping. That's pretty bad for across the state...

Example server: 24.105.40.37

(doesn't seem like you can ping it directly)

Traceroute may be helpful: https://bpaste.net/show/5d548960e4fb

Its layer43 that's slowing it down; here's the Comcast traceroute:

They advertise an open peering policy, so I will send in a request to peer in San Jose. If they accept our request, you should see traffic via peering within a couple days.

Hi Tomic,

Are you a Sonic employee?

What does this mean?

Thank you

I also have the same ping problem with Blizzard servers that starts on a layer42 hop. A few weeks ago I would get mid-high 20s for ping but then overnight it hopped up to mid-high 90s and been there ever since. It doesn't seem to be a Blizzard or Sonic problem so I didn't know if there was anything to be done, but I'll pipe up to say it'd be nice if it got fixed somehow!

@risingstars Yes, I am a Sonic employee.

What I had mentioned previously is that according to their policies, Blizzard should be happy to bring up a direct connection between the Sonic and Blizzard networks. Once that is done, the path traffic has to take from Sonic customers to Blizzard servers is greatly decreased, improving performance.

Please note that I have not received a response from the Blizzard peering team at this time.

Following up here, ping is down to 30-40ms. Thanks! <3
