email offline?

I am using Apple Mail, on a mac, with system 10.8.5

I receive mail, but am unable to send outgoing mail. I have checked the "knowledge base" and have double checked the
port numbers and passwords. But the SMTP servers are still "offline" How do I get online again?

Are you seeing an error message when you attempt to send, or is the message simply not being received on the other end? Send me a private message with your username and an example of when you attempted to send and I can dig through our logs a bit.
