My friend in the Redwood Oaks area of Redwood City recently received a message that his fiber installation was being canceled due to serviceability issues (https://imgur.com/a/yj525DI). He asked me to enquire about some details here (it seems his account was deactivated when his preorder was canceled).
He's understandably disappointed (you guys are the best! he's currently stuck with AT&T), and was wondering if the issue was getting the appropriate permits, the cost of micro trenching, an issue with his HOA (he lives in a cul-de-sac), or an inability to share existing infrastructure. He was also curious what the odds were that service might be available at some point in the future (and if there's anything he could do to improve those odds!).

Utility pole: https://imgur.com/a/3PuyAGcMy neighbors in this same cul-de-sac and I receive power, AT&T fiber, and cable underground which I believe all surface and connect up at the utility pole across the street. I was hoping that Sonic's fiber would be able to use the same conduit AT&T already has in place for their fiber but I guess I can understand AT&T not wanting to share that infrastructure.
My understanding is it would be a matter of micro-trenching more conduit across the city street and then though the cul-de-sac (owned by my HOA) in order to reach my address. Is this simply too cost-prohibitive for Sonic to pursue? Something that's too complicated in terms of city permits or approval with my HOA? Just not a priority now while trying to deliver service to as many customers as possible?
