I've had my Sonic account for over six years in my current building. I'm moving to a new building next week. The new place is BRAND NEW, construction just finished. And it's literally around the corner from the old one. This is for a home internet connection. I went to the Sonic Check Availability site and confirmed that Sonic was available in the new place. So I called Sonic to schedule an installation appointment. Availability was confirmed and an appointment scheduled.
The ATT tech came yesterday. He said there's no ATT connection to this new building at all, no ATT copper in the building. So there's no way to get Sonic (or any other DSL service) there. I immediately called Sonic tech support and, after a long wait on hold, they confirmed that they cannot in fact connect to this new building. And they're very sorry. (I suggested they update their Check Availability site to reflect this, which as of this writing has not been done.)
I've taken this up with management here and they say everyone's getting a shared Comcast cable connection. This is so repulsive I can barely type it out here. I'm going to lose my VOIP, lose my static IP, lose access to this forum, lose my included hosting services with Sonic. I'm going to lose the excellent, reliable service and support Sonic has always provided me. I still can't quite believe it. How can something like this happen? The new building is a city housing project so maybe that has something to do with it. Has anyone out there run into this before?
thanks
