This is just a plea to get someone within Sonic to fix their reverse DNS for my old IP address.
Support was not able to help me because they have no records that they set my reverse dns and since I moved to fiber recently, I lost my static IP address and that old address still points to a hostname which I've removed from my domains. Sonic never "hosted" my domain. I run my own name servers so I'm hosting my own domain and the registrar is a friend who is another Sonic customer.

The support staff and their manage do not seem to have any idea about reverse dns and how it works. They are always telling my to contact my domain hosting service and my registrar.
I set this up maybe 10 to 15 years ago by a voice call with sonic support back then.

Here's some evidence:
dig @ns1.sonic.net 240.235.36.70.in-addr.arpa. PTR

; <<>> DiG 9.16.27 <<>> @ns1.sonic.net 240.235.36.70.in-addr.arpa. PTR
; (1 server found)
;; global options: +cmd
;; Got answer:

That shows the reverse DNS record for my old ip address and my hostname.

now to show that they own this reverse DNS...

dig @ns1.sonic.net 235.36.70.in-addr.arpa. SOA

SOA is a source of authority and shows ns1.sonic.net

Let's do a reverse DNS of a nearby address....
dig @ns1.sonic.net -x !$
dig @ns1.sonic.net -x 70.36.235.200

Hey there. Support asked me to have a look and fortunately you can address this in Member Tools. Once logging in, go to Web Sites/Domain Names, Edit DNS, Modify Host Records and search for 70.36.235.240/32 - you should find your stuff in there. Simply hit the Reset button and it gets cleaned up. Allow the usual unpredictable but usually too long amount of time for DNS propagation to complete and try your query again.

Cheers!

Edit: upon further review, this isn't something you'd be able to fix within Member Tools after all, so I've reset the RDNS entry for you.

Additionally I wanted to thank you for pointing this out - as a result of looking at your issue I discovered that during the process that turns down static IP service, the reverse entry isn't being reset as it should be. We'll get that fixed.

Nope.

That page says: You currently have no services with DNS or static IPs.
My static IP was shutdown with my move to 10G fiber.

You're absolutely right, sorry for the confusion. Please see my edited post above.
