Years ago the built-in VPN software in MacOS could VPN to ipsec.vpn.sonic.net. So far as I can tell, this has disappeared: I cannot find any Sonic web pages that refer to it any longer.

Instead, you have to download something called OpenVPN. That seems like a step backward. Did something change here? And why?

I enquired about this back in October 2020. I was also using the IPSEC VPN service that they used to offer -- the response I got was:
Sorry about the confusion here. We have discontinued this VPN service as of 8/31/2020 which I have linked the announcement and help article. We have since moved over to Open VPN (or OVPN) and instructions on how to implement that can be found at https://help.sonic.com/hc/en-us/article ... PN-Service.

If they won't do IPSEC VPN I wish they'd do WireGuard rather than OpenVPN -- much faster at establishing a connection, more secure, and handles mobility seamlessly.
