Looked at Xfinity and compared. For less, I can get a lot more. Right now I pay around $65 for phone I barely use and internet we use a lot. Did the test and it came up with download speed is 16.69 Mbps and upload speed is 0.9 Mbps. No available upgrade is ridiculous. I checked the other site and for $30 I can get 200 Mbps download.......why is Sonic not doing something about it?
Internet connectivity has historically been pretty slow, not just in Oakley, or any specific part of California (or the United States), but everywhere.
For some providers, upgrading service is fairly trivial, especially for those providers who currently have infrastructure with a wide reach. Right now, we don't have a physical presence in your area, which means we rely on the existing infrastructure that is currently AT&T and their copper network.
We're doing what we can to expand our Gigabit Fiber network, which offers the same level of "trivial" effort to upgrade service, but we're not in your area yet. That's the long term plan - bring fiber to as many areas and homes as possible, but that kind of effort takes time.
If our service no longer makes sense for your situation, we get it. It's not by design, but due to being at an impasse for your needs, and what we can provide - we want you surfing on service that suits your needs too - but unfortunately, we don't have any other service options in the area just yet.
