Does anyone have any tips on connecting PAN to Sonic?

We have Google Wifi on port 2 and Palo Alto Network 820 appliance attempting to connect to port 1.

PAN never gets a connection on port 1, and then we found that our MAC table was full, which required that we call Sonic support to clear it.

Our concern is that PAN is somehow using multiple MACs that then fill the MAC table and disable both ports to cause us to go offline.

Hello,

I am not familiar with the Palo Alto Network PAN-820 however it should be connected behind a router. It appears you have a router connected to port 1 and as long as PAN is connected behind that router it will be using port 1.

If the PAN cannot be connected behind a router and the PAN device itself is not "routing" it will fill up your mac table because its being used as a "switch".

If you have any further information you can provide about the PAN-820 please let me know. I would first attempt connecting it behind the router you are using on Port 1 for now.

Thank you,
Sonic

Why isn't your PA820 the first device on your network? Your description seems to indicate you're on Sonic's network and not resold ATT so you don't need to use their RG. Or set the RG on bridge mode and connect your WiFi to the Palo Alto.

Hi cartercamio,

Is your PAN set up as 'virtual wire'? If it is, it's like a bridge mode, so all of the devices behind it will be using up the MAC table.

It should be set up with one interface facing the internet (connected to port 1) and configured as a Layer 3 interface, Untrust Zone, and DHCP client. You will also need to set up a Virtual Router, DHCP server, NAT, and one or more internal interfaces using Layer 3 or 2 and Trust Zone.

If you want to firewall your Google WiFi you should put it in bridge mode and behind the PAN.
