San Francisco

I'm in a part of SF with overhead utilities (Fillmore St, Lower Haight). I haven't heard much about new fiber expansion in SF lately, but a coworker further north in the city got the opportunity to pre-order recently.

I guess what I want to know is whether I'm in an area that's in a "never gonna happen" category for whatever reason, or if it's a "keep on waiting, maybe someday" thing.

AT&T hasn't built out here either, so maybe there's a reason, but it's really frustrating that my only option here is fusion DSL with less than one megabit/sec upstream, as we're so far away from the AT&T equipment.

I've even considered trying to find someone within Sonic's fiber area to whom I have line of sight, and renting a roof corner from them. But it's challenging to figure out where that is.

Hello,

We are focused in San Francisco for the build out but we weren't able to deliver the service to some neighborhoods for various reasons. If we "skipped" an area, it's usually because there may be an unsafe telephone pole(s) nearby that will not support the weight of any new infrastructure. This would prevent us from delivering service to a given area until the poles are replaced (usually by P.G&E. but it varies). We may circle back to re-evaluate sections that we missed to see if there is any progress or updates to allow us to install there. Once we are able to get installed at your location, we'll email you so you can make the switch ASAP. Have a great day and stay safe out there.

Kind Regards,

Jeff M.

Thanks, Jeff -

Is there any way of knowing if that's the case for this particular area? I.e., whether it's been "skipped" due to an infrastructure issue as you described, or is just waiting for its turn to come up?
