So I'd like to purchase my own modem/router for X2 service but not sure what others experiences are with some of them.
Anyone have a suggestion?

I wouldn’t suggest it, because of the wide array of protocol support required. It’d be hard to find and configure something to work in all cases. Some locations are ADSL2+, while others are VDSL2. Some use G.bond, and others use PTM. The equipment Sonic provides is managed based upon these configurations across the regions we serve.

You’d also lose support capabilities from our team, and can end up paying for service visits - members with equipment rental don’t pay for those.

There are multiple posts about this already.

Sonic discourages users from doing it but is nice enough to allow it anyway.

I have a zhone 6729-W1-xx that i was using on VSDL on one circuit.
It is supposed to do ADSL and VDSL and supports one line or 2 bonded lines.

You can have it if you want.

I live in Albany.

I am using the Zyxel VMG4005-B50B in bridge mode

I am on X2 ADSL2/ATM but the modem claims to support VDSL2 and PTM as well.
Configuration requires ssh/telnet as the web interface seems to be locked.

@gorlik I just purchased a VMG4005. Mind sharing how you set it up?
