Is their anyway to get off a fixed IP address? How can it be changed?

Your IP will change from time to time as a result of network maintenance, or in some rare cases, power being off to your equipment and the IP being allocated to another.

But DHCP servers, which allocate and manage IPs, attempt to keep them stable and consistently assigned when possible. This helps keep some types of persistent-connection applications up as much as possible.

So if your device were powered down for an hour, the DHCP server would try not to give your IP to another, and would only do so if there were inadequate IPs to meet demand. And because the network is all designed for 100% online devices, we allocate large enough pools that IP exhaustion should not occur.

This keeps your IP pretty sticky, and makes network maintenance which results in IP numbering changes the primary situation where your IP will shift.

The question comes usually the other way around with people wanting a fixed IP and sonic responding that although they do it for free on DSL, they don't offer it on fiber.

You want a different IP ?
You can try to reboot the modem/ONT but as Dane said, it may get reassigned the same one.

If you want a different IP you could try a VPN. Hopefully on each connection it would give you a different one.
