During the install of my 50 mbps service today, we were talking about the speed profile on the work order for my account. He mentioned that Sonic requested a 45/5 (down/up) speed profile. He also mentioned that AT&T usually has a 60/10 profile, for a 50 mbps internet package, which is newer (under-promise, over-deliver).

During his test with the JDSU instrument, he said he was syncing at 32 mbps per pair, bonded 64 mbps, very capable for the newer profile, or at least to get over 50 mbps, accounting for overhead.

Installed, speed testing confirms at 40/5 mbps, not quite 50 mbps.

How can I request to be put on the faster profile?

Thanks!

Hello,
We do not offer all of the same speed tiers that AT&T offers their own customers since we negotiated with them for specific speed packages. In terms of the installed speed, although the AT&T order was for 45/5, they over-provision their lines to stabilize them meaning the line will actually be profiled to 50/6 even though that is not reflected in their order. It sounds like this was not the case for your installation. I am looking into why this happened and if we can get your line re-provisioned to the correct speeds.

So it's been a few days and my speeds have stabilized to 50/6. So it sounds like what you were saying was correct.
